I have been teaching piano & keyboard for over 30 years. I work very hard to make piano/keyboard "fun" while making sure all my students receive a high quality musical education. I teach all styles of music from classical to popular music as well as jazz and everything else in between. I am told my several students & parents over the years that I am very 'comfortable" to be with so my students feel at ease being with me and I see that as being very important and with always working towards making piano "fun" my students enjoy practicing so much more & do very well. I can say my turnover rate each year is extremely low which I attribute to a large part to the above reasons.
My background is quite extensive. I have a bachlor's degree from Univ. of Lowell & my masters degree from Boston Univ. both in music education& performance. I guess one of many attributes that I can boast a little about is that I am now teaching several students whose parents I once had for students maybe that just means I'm getting older but... Also I have never advertised and have always had a full schedule strictly by word of mouth.
I welcome the opportunity to being your teacher and thank you for taking the time to read by biography.
All my students can expect a high quality lesson where they will learn all the musical fundamentals from reading music to timing, fingering, etc... yet at the same time they will also be taught the types of music they are most interested in whether it be popular music or jazz or classical so that a typical less on will encompass a method type book playing and teaching the fundamentals along with a jazz or popular music or classical piece all of course being at their level. I will tailor each students lesson based on their level of experience, desires of music, and learning ability & aptitude. I also teach & have taught students who are autistic & asperger's that after evaluation I felt could benefit from piano & all are doing very well & have been taking lessons for several years.
In short you can expect a high quality lesson that will be made enjoyable & tailored to the types of music you would like to play. You will make good progress and get tp play the songs you really like. I should also mention that I teach & have taught several adults and in fact with each passing year my adult student list continues to grow so to all you adults & parents don't be shy or feel it's too late to take piano & I find with the stresses of today's world many adults enjoy the escape music offers so I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity. I have a few students in their 60's & early 70's so it's never too late to start.
I've done everything for so long that I feel like I'm extremely proficient in all areas but probably popular music & jazz & teaching the complete chord system might be my specialty.
