My name is Lesley and I am a May 2008 graduate of Cal State University Fullerton, where I received my BFA in Musical Theatre. I am highly proficient in voice and vocal technique, as well as teaching beginning piano. I was trained heavily in a great deal of voice and movement knowledge, and feel very at home teaching in the realms of musical theatre and classical training. I taught for almost a year at Music Academy in Whittier, where I had about 15 students total, including voice and beginning piano students. I have been playing piano for fifteen years, and I have been trained in singing for seven, although I have always been involved in singing since I was 2 years old. I absolutely love watching children grow and improve in their technique, ability, and passion for music. 

If you are willing to try your absolute best and put your heart and soul into learning, you will gain much more than you could expect! I have been very heavily trained through the BFA program at Cal State, through my professors, voice teachers, and acting coaches alike, which will all help to contribute to the knowledge I can give my students. I do expect improvement from my students, and a good work ethic. Practice makes perfect! (And trust me, I know it's not fun sometimes, but I am here to encourage you!) I will expect my students to buy at least 1 or 2 books for personal use, either for piano or voice, but nothing to break the bank book by any means. Hopefully, with time, you will learn proper vocal technique and placement, build up your repertoire, extend your range, and improve your overall sound. If just beginning with piano, we will learn names of notes, small scales, and simple songs. 

I am very "voice and movement" oriented: the speaking voice and singing voice are very connected and physicality is extremely valuable to the singer in learning proper technique.
